Physicians
Michael J. Seider, Ph.D., M.D., graduated from John Hopkins University in the late 1970's. He completed his Ph.D. in medical physiology at the University of Arizona and completed his residency at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, Texas. This experience rewarded him with a vast knowledge in the area of cancer treatment with expertise in the area of prostate cancer treatment. He completed his radiation therapy residency in 1987 and then joined Dr. Demas in practice at Akron City Hospital. He is the primary physician at the Cancer Treatment Center as well as a radiation oncologist at Akron City Hospital where he started and performs all of the prostate seed implants. He is an associate professor of radiology at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine.
Dr. Seider is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He is instrumental in keeping The Cancer Treatment Center on the leading edge of cancer research and treatment by participating in national clinical trials under the National Cancer Institute's guidance through the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) and National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Panel (NSABP). Dr. Michael Seider sits on some of the committees that write and oversee the development of these clinical trials. He is also chairman of the Large Field Subcommittee of the RTOG, which is responsible for studies involving therapy using radioisotopes and monoclonal antibodies.
William F. Demas, M.D., is a graduate of the State University of New York, Down State Medical Center College of Medicine. He completed his residency program in radiation oncology at the Kings County University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Demas then relocated to Houston, Texas, where he was a fellow in radiation oncology at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, and where he completed a specialty fellowship program for cancers of the Head and Neck. He remained on staff at the M.D. Anderson Hospital as attending radiotherapist and was appointed as an instructor at the University of Texas Houston branch, in the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Dr. Demas is presently the Chief of Radiation Oncology at Akron City Hospital and a professor of radiology at the Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. Dr. Demas is board certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology. He is also a radiation oncologist with the Cancer Treatment Center.
Desiree E. Doncals, M.D., is a graduate of the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She did her internship at Western Pennsylvania hospital in Pittsburgh and her radiation oncology residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Doncals is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. She possesses extensive knowledge in the treatment and management of cancer of the breast. She is a radiation oncologist at Akron City Hospital as well as the Cancer Treatment Center.
Susan M. Hong, M.D., is a graduate of Northeastern Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM), Rootstown, Ohio. She did her internship at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio and completed her residency in radiation oncology at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, New York. Dr. Hong is board certified in radiation oncology by the American Board of Radiology. She has a broad knowledge of cancer treatment including external beam and brachytherapy procedures. She is a radiation oncologist at Akron City Hospital as well as being on staff at the Cancer Treatment Center.
Radiation Therapy & Support
Michael T. Morris, RT (T), chief therapist at the Cancer Treatment Center, has been a radiation therapist since 1987. He is a graduate of Salem Community Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and the Aultman Hospital Radiation Therapy School. He is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the center in addition to medical dosimetry, which includes the computerized treatment planning of the patient's course of treatment. He also assists with daily treatments, CT simulations, dose calculations, quality assurance, and ultrasound localization.
Joann R. Stevens, RT (T), has been a radiation therapist since 1986. Her duties include delivering radiation treatments, coordinating CT simulations, Ultrasound localization and assisting with management duties. Before joining the Cancer Treatment Center she worked at Akron City Hospital for eight-and-one-half years where she was a manager for four of those years. Mrs. Stevens is a graduate of Aultman Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and School of Radiation Therapy.
Jennifer S. Blue, RT (T), has been a radiation therapist since 1985. She is a graduate of Owens Technical College in Toledo, Ohio. She has previously worked at Akron City Hospital and the University of Michigan Hospital. Her responsibilities include delivery of daily radiation treatments as well as ultrasound localization, dose calculations, and simulations.
Beverly L. Fanase, RT (T), has been a radiation therapist since 1981. Before joing the Cancer Treatment Center she was employed by Summa Health System at Akron Ciry Hospital for 21 years. She is a graduate of Akron City Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and also Aultman Hospital School of Radiation Therapy. Her responsibilities include delivery of radiation treatments as a well as ultrasound localization, dose calculation and Quality Assurance tests.
Louis R Milavickas, PH.D., graduated from St. Mary's College with a B.A. in Physics. He earned a M.S. degree in Physics from the University of Tennessee and a PH.D, in Radiation Biophysics from the University of Kansas. Dr. Milavickas is certified in Therapeutic and Medical Nuclear Physics by the American Board of Radiology, and he is also certified by the American Board of medical Physics in Radiation Oncology Physics. Dr Milavickas is a State of Ohio Certified Espert in the Theraputic area. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medical Radiation Biophysics in Radiology for the Northeastern Ohio Universities' College of Medicine. His responsibilities include equipment calibration, quality assurance, radiation safety and compliance with state and federal regulations. He also consults with the physicians, dosimetrist and therapists concerning patient treatments and dosimetry.
Office & Administration
Mary Alice Streeter, CPA, CMPE, is the administrator of the Cancer Treatment Center. She has been active in medical group management for a number of years and is an officer of the Ohio Medical Group Management Association. She has an extensive background in medical management and hospital administrative policy and procedures.
Sandra S. Kiefer, office manager, has been with the Cancer Treatment Center since 1998. She has 28 years experience in dealing with the special needs of a healthcare facility, 16 years in a radiation therapy setting. She is skilled in all phases of insurance processing and handles all billing for the facility. She is happy to work as a liaison between the patient and their insurance company coordinating benefits to their fullest degree. She is also experienced in medical transcription and receptionist duties.
Rayleen M. Walsh, our receptionist/transcriptionist had been with Radiation Oncologists of Ohio for twelve years before accepting the position at the Cancer Treatment Center. Along with her secretarial and medical transcription duties she assists in helping the patient during their follow-up visits.
Andra K. DelPropost joined the Cancer Treatment Center in 1997. She works part time in the office performing clerical tasks and receptionist duties. She has 24 years experience working in healthcare facilities and is informative in making sure our patient's comfort needs are well cared for.
